PLEASE READ AND FOLLOW SUBMISSION INSTRUCTIONS!
Webster Arts invites St. Louis area artists to submit work on any theme in any 2D medium that can be wall hung. Work must be original, NOT A PRINT, and not previously exhibited in a Webster Arts juried exhibition. Accepted work can be in any 2D media and should be no larger than 16 inches on the longest side or 16 inches square, including framing. Work must be wired. Work not wired properly cannot be installed. The exhibit will be hung at the Gallery at the Webster Groves Public Library, 301 E. Lockwood, in Webster Groves, MO.
Exhibition Dates: April 1-30, 2017

Jury Fee: $0 for up to three works
Exhibition Fee: Accepted artists will pay a $25 exhibition fee. Work can be for sale; 30% commission

Artist Reception: Webster Arts will host an artists’ reception, free and open to the public, on Friday, April 7, 2017, from 6-7:30 pm.
Eligibility: Submission is open to any artist, over the age of 18, but accepted work must be hand-delivered, not shipped. No work produced under instruction or from classroom assignments. No work derived from other artwork or copies of masters. Entries must represent original works of art that meet the above size requirement. Artists should keep in mind that the gallery is open to the public during the Library’s regular hours and will be viewed by all audiences.
Media: All 2D media, except video and work that requires electric connections. 2D media includes: painting in oil, acrylic, pastels, inks or watercolors, drawing, printmaking, fiber, photography, wall-mounted clay, etc.

Catalog: Work exhibited may be published in a planned annual catalog of Webster Arts shows and exhibit. Details TBD. Work from previous exhibits may be viewed here.
Delivery and Return of Work: All work accepted for the exhibition must arrive ready to install. Works not gallery-ready, or not exhibiting good craftsmanship, may be omitted from the exhibit. All work must be framed or gallery wrapped, with wires for hanging. No saw-toothed hangers.
IMPORTANT! Accepted work that differs significantly from the entry images or suffers from poor presentation, will be disqualified. Work must be framed or gallery wrapped canvas with proper wire hangar. Please note that professional-level presentation is a must. Work must be hand delivered and picked up at assigned times. Accepted work will remain on display for the duration of the exhibition. Works not claimed within 30 days of the end of the exhibit will become the property of Webster Arts. The image files should be in HIGH QUALITY JPEG format, images should be no smaller than 1000 pixels in any direction (about 13”) and 72dpi. This should result in most image files ranging from 700kb to 2mb in file size (this is approximate).

Sale of Work: All work, unless indicated as not for sale (NFS), will be available for sale during exhibit. Webster Arts will retain a commission of 30% on all artwork sold during the exhibition, half of which will benefit the library programs. Webster Arts and Webster Groves Public Library are nonprofit organizations.
Submission Images: Webster Arts accepts only digital images/files for consideration. See specifications below. Webster Arts will retain the submitted images of accepted artwork and reserves the right to use the images in publications and gallery publicity.
Digital Format: Digital images must be submitted by email to firstname.lastname@example.org. Subject line: Small Works IV
The images must meet the following specifications:
FILE NAMING: All entry files must be named with artist's last name (underscore) first name, followed by the entry number as noted on the entry form (i.e. Winter_Sarah1.jpg). Please DO NOT include any other information in the file name, such as title of work, etc.
Example: if you are submitting three images: winter_sarah1.jpg; winter_sarah2.jpg; winter_sarah3.jpg. Substitute your name, of course.
The image files should be in HIGH QUALITY JPEG format, images should be no smaller than 1000 pixels in any direction (about 13”) and 72dpi. This should result in most image files ranging from 700kb to 2mb in file size (this is approximate).
Be ABSOLUTELY sure you are sending files at the correct size AND that your email app. does not automatically downsize the attached images when sending. NO SIGNATURES SHOULD BE VISIBLE IN THE ART SUBMISSION. This is a blind jury.
Images must be oriented properly (i.e. top of image is top of artwork) and should not include text info or borders that are not part of the actual work.
