The Webster Arts Fair, June 2-4, 2017
Webster Arts invites art, music and food lovers to the 14th annual Webster Arts Fair, June 2-4, 2017. The Webster Arts Fair is sponsored by Webster Arts, a nonprofit organization. Patrick Murphy is President, and Jeane Vogel is Executive Director.
The Webster Arts Fair is made possible with the leadership from the Webster Arts Fair Committee, and the support of more than 250 community volunteers.
The fair is open from 6-10 p.m. on Friday, June 2; 11 a.m.-9 p.m. on Saturday, June 3; and 11a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, June 4, rain or shine. The fair is located at the corner of Lockwood and Bompart Avenues on the grounds of Eden Theological Seminary in Webster Groves, MO.
105 juried artists from 23 states are exhibiting in the following categories: acrylics/oils, clay/ceramics, digital art, drawing/graphics, fiber, glass, jewelry, photography, sculpture, watercolor, wood/metal, and mixed media. Artists are selected by a blind jury. The art is both sophisticated and accessible, in all price ranges.
While the art is the star, there are hands-on activities for the whole family. Budding artists of all ages will enjoy the hands-on activities of Studios, where children and adults can learn how to throw pots with Krueger pottery, do a fiber art project with Delve MIY, see weaving and spinning demonstrations with the Weavers’ Guild of St. Louis and Missouri Fiber Artists, or enjoy chess tutorials with national champion Webster University Chess Club. There is also a musical petting zoo from Music Folk, a Webster Arts Fair 2017 mural and more hands-on art projects from Yucandu Art Studio. Studios is open Saturday, June 3rd from 11 a.m.-6 p.m., and Sunday from 11 a.m.-5 p.m.
Non-stop live music will serenade fair-goers with pop, country, rock and jazz, on three stages, throughout the weekend. The fair embraces all the arts and features poetry reading, storytelling, and special performances by dance groups. For a full line-up, go to http://www.webster-arts.org
Special events include Sip & Stroll on Friday, June 2nd from 6-10 p.m., where patrons can enjoy a wine sampling, wine and beer. Art on the Rocks is Saturday, June 3rd where fair-goers can purchase Margaritas and listen to a Mariachi trio. On Sunday, June 4th, Art & Mimosas is from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m., where guests can purchase mimosas and Bloody Marys. All special events are at the Bompart stage.
A variety of food selections from local restaurants will be available throughout the fair. Vendors include: Russo’s Catering, Tivanov Catering Co., Ices Plain and Fancy, Straubs BBQ, Serendipity, and Milagro. For more information, go to http://www.webster-arts.org.
The Webster Arts Fair strives to create a “green” fair with recycling, reusable water bottles and cups, and preservation of the grounds.
Hundreds of individual donors, local business sponsors, arts and educational sponsors, the City of Webster Groves, area media, the Missouri Arts Council, Regional Arts Commission, and other organizations have made the Webster Arts Fair possible.
